Not Much To Say Except...

So there isn't really much to say. I have a dislocated bone in my foot. I know why I have it. Not because of shoes, or overtraining. I have it because I've been working on detoxing my body and had some structural deep tissue work done at around the same time. Basically, toxins and cause tendons to weaken and in this instance because of gravity and some integration work done on my feet at about the same time, I didn't let everything shake out before going back to my normal routine. So until the bone gets taken care of I won't be running. I had it worked on last week and got it partially back in place, but I still have pain. On a scale of 1 to 10 it is a 9. 10 being I'd want to shoot myself to put myself out of my misery.

But this is giving me time to finally sit down and write out a schedule for my workouts. Minus running of course. The running is on the schedule, I just won't be doing it. Funny how I can find time to put this on paper now. I think what has happened is I have a better handle on my external commitments. Probably because I've moved some things around and let others go completely. Now I'll work on the actual build in volume and intensity. I should have the whole year planned out by Wednesday. Honestly I feel much better knowing what I will be doing each day versus just "winging" it like I have since my work schedule changed in November.

I had no idea you could dislocate a foot bone.

BTW- Do you swim at townlake YMCA? I thought I saw you there but truth be told I am not 100% sure I would recognized you in public since I have just seen the few pics on your blog to gage what you look like

Gak - that's pretty painful! Glad you're using the downtime productively. I have to confess to a touch of jealousy - I've been meaning to hammer out a purposeful workout schedule for ages. Hey - I know! - publish yours and I'll piggyback.

Yeah VC, I do swim at the Town Lake YMCA and at Lifetime Fitness depending on what side of town I'm on. I actually prefer the Y but getting there can be hit or miss. I hadn't been to your blog in a while, glad to see you are still around.

Yeah TT I'm pretty used to the dislocated foot thing now. The only reason I knew what it was versus some sort of stress fracture or pulled ligament was I had an over zealous yoga teacher dislocate my other foot when I was in teacher training by stepping on it to make it flatten out. So I suppose I should thank her, no MRI this time ;)

Reading your blog for the first time in awhile. Sorry to hear about the injury! How long til you'll be running again you think?

Actually with this injury, the dislocated foot bone, the fix can be immediate. All that is needed is for someone skilled enough to understand the direction the bone has moved out and put it back where it belongs. There really is very little actual tissue damage, unlike with a shoulder. Typically, I can run the next day. This took a bit longer because I had to wait for an appointment that fit my schedule. I should be back in business early next week. I'm going to give this a little more time because I'm waiting to get some new running shoes ;)
